I'll try keep this short... just some thoughts to share...
So last night Ray and I went on a date.
We decided to check out the Studio Movie Grill since we had never been and nearly everyone else in the world has. In a nutshell... we loved the concept, but thought the execution was lacking. Normally people go out to dinner and a movie... this place just had the bright idea to put dinner and a movie together... so you can get home earlier. =) What stunk was you have to line up to go into the theater in like two different groups... and it seems like if you're in Group 2 you're totally going to get an awful seat because you go in last. You just kind of feel like cattle being lined up and driven in the right direction. So not classy... ugh. =P haha
On top of that, everything is WAY overpriced. We decided we might go there sometime just for dessert and a movie. They have hot cookies. Need I say more? =)
Now... as for the movie. We saw something I was very skeptical about seeing cause it seemed like it could be completely stupid... Tron. Ray had seen the first one back in the 80s and loved it so he was looking forward to it. I went because hey, it was PG so I knew it was going to be relatively safe... and I was trying to be a good date for once.
I have to say.... I really liked it. I thought the story was pretty interesting... but what really sold me was the music. Daft Punk did the entire soundtrack and they kept an 80s feel to much of it. I will be buying the soundtrack today. =)
So, have any of you seen it? Anyone want to explain it to me? haha There are still a lot of gaps I can't fill in and it seems like it'd be a fun movie to dissect and talk about.
Hope everyone is doing well! =)

Sad...
Ray and I saw a dead one of these next to the road yesterday...

It was still there when I passed by again this morning. What in Barb's closet is a beaver doing in the middle of the city????
Don't you wish you could rewind life sometimes and do things over? If I had a rewind button... I would go back before that beaver died and made sure it stayed out of the street... and in the process... we could have become good friends.
Then again, if I'm going to be real about things... I'd only use the rewind button for that if I had unlimited rewinding privileges. For all I know, that beaver could have been a jerk.
I have to apologize for the quality of my posts lately... it'll get better... promise! I invented something yesterday... I'll take some pics and post about it soon! =D

Warning...
This will probably be a very, very boring post.
With that out of the way, here we go!
Ray and I had some noteworthy things happen to us over the past week. Well, noteworthy to us. =P
Ray's Noteworthy Event
Fishing. Yep, he went fishing. He's been going more lately... but this week he really felt like he "got it". For the first time, he said he was sitting there watching the line, and he felt like he had no worries or cares at all... no anxiety. I guess I still don't "get it"... but I think that being outside does the same thing for me.
Needless to say, I have a feeling I'm going to have to add a monthly "Fish Monies" expense line to our budget.
Ravyn's Noteworthy Event
After an existence of carrying around bags that I really didn't like, but they were cheap so I didn't care... my mom bought me this...
Ray hates it. He says it makes me look like a kindergarten teacher.
My rebuttal - "Didn't I already look like kindergarten teacher?"
Couldn't fight that. You gotta be who you be, you know? =)
So, I finally have a purse that I love... I'll be using it until it falls apart.
Oh, and in case you were wondering if our lives truly are this boring.... yes, yes they are.

Ray's Find...
Ray just showed me this video... well, actually it's a sound clip... and I almost choked from laughing so hard. Make sure your volume isn't up too loud. I just wish there was video with little fat kids playing trumpets to go along with it.
Enjoy! =)
Enjoy! =)

Totally copying off of Thom Yorke...
On Friday, I heard a rumor on the radio that Radiohead was about to wrap up their new album. There are very few things that I can hear on the radio that make my day... that's probably number one on the short list.
However, I came home and then found this on Radiohead's site...
http://www.radiohead.com/deadairspace/ (the Nov. 12th post)
I can't blame the little guy for getting excited. I probably would have done the same thing.
"You mean, you guys have been recording?"
"Yeah, only the chorus of one song though."
"So the album's almost through!!!! I HAVE TO TELL THE WORLD!!!"
... and get everyone else so excited that they pee their pants... just to have them bitterly disappointed... and needing a change of underwear.
Anyway, once I got on the site though, I saw that Thom Yorke posts song lists with themes. Pretty awesome stuff. That got me to thinking that it might be neat to do one of those myself... So, here's the first attempt. =D I'll start with a theme I know well...
Theme: Songs To Act Depressed To
(Or for legitimate depression purposes... this could be called "When Someone You Love Dies")
1. Crooked Fingers - Bad Man Coming
2. Greg Laswell - High & Low
3. The Weepies - They're In Love, Where Am I?
4. Low - When I Go Deaf
5. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
6. The Cure - Pictures of You
7. Radiohead - How to Disappear Completely
8. Fleetwood Mac - Landslide
9. Mazzy Star - Into Dust
10. Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Despite just having listened to majorly depressing songs... that was a lot of fun. =)
Can somebody get me a tissue?

Nerdlinger...

Yeah, so I'm not feeling very well today... so I've been doing a bit of reading. I stumbled across an old book of Aesop's fables that got me to thinking... who was Aesop anyway? Like a true nerdlinger... I did some research.
The weird thing is... the only thing people seem to agree on is that Aesop lived somewhere around 600 B.C. and at some point in his life was a slave. Everything else is speculative. There was one thing I read about him that I thought was cool... if it was true. He was supposedly sent as an ambassador to Delphi with a large shipment of gold to pass out to the citizens there. When disgusted with their covetousness and greed... he refused to pass out the gold to them, which ultimately resulted in his death at their grubby hands.
I doubt all that is true... but if it is... rock on Aesop. I'd rather die than give out money to jerks, too.
I'll leave you with one of my newly found favorites for your reading pleasure:
"The Wolf & the Lion"
A Wolf, having stolen a lamb from a fold, was carrying him off to his lair. A Lion met him in the path, and seizing the lamb, took it from him. Standing at a safe distance, the Wolf exclaimed, "You have unrighteously taken that which was mine from me!" To which the Lion jeeringly replied, "It was righteously yours, eh? The gift of a friend?"

Ho Hum
Nothing much to say here... Just that I'm headed off to what will be classified as a "chick party" and I wanted to have it down in writing that I did a chick thing today.
I think I'm accused (and very likely guilty) of not doing things when only girls will be involved. Probably because I think it's more fun to crack up over somebody burping or farting than to put on makeup and reassure others that they're not fat.
Maybe I just need to find some girls that burp and fart (not TOO freely.... but can at least admit that they do)... Where are they? They've got a sister they don't even know about... right here.

Afternoon Project
Today, I had a free afternoon... that's not rare... but this time I decided to actually do something with it. =)
Now, before I post this picture... I just want all you people out there (basically just my one reader...) to know that sometimes... even when an end result looks shoddy... that doesn't mean that the effort that was put into it was shoddy....
That being said... I made my first pillow ever this afternoon. I chose a fabric in a lovely shade of poop brown and decided... hey, I'd love to put my face on a color like that... bada bing bada boom... I had myself a pillow.

You can barely make out the fine detail... but... what I've accomplished here is pretty amazing. I mean, I DID something with my afternoon for Barb's sake!
Here's a close up of the flower... hand stitched... very poorly hand stitched thank you very much. =)

The good thing was, I had a great time making this and I look forward to working on my sewing skills. Sorry about the pics... I know they didn't come out too well. It was just too much awesomeness for the camera to handle. =)

Rockin' It - 80s Style

So, Ray and I decided on buying another car. We just so happened to stumble across a sweet little 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit on Craigslist. Ray's going to pick it up this afternoon! We're so excited! This pic above isn't a picture of the car we're getting... but it looks just the same...
I'm actually excited for two reasons. One, I love the car... and two, I think it'll be fun to do some before and after pics of the work he does on it on here. Be on the lookout for awesomeness! =P
Sweet!!! =D

Everyone Else Is Doing It...
So I've been reading some pretty great blogs lately. It made me want to do something...
I've been inspired to start a blog with all the best intentions... that I'll basically forget about in 6 months tops. In 2 years I hope (and fully expect) to stumble upon an old email that will direct me back to this skeleton of a page. I'll smile softly and tilt my head to one side. And then... the blog will know... that somewhere, deep in the recesses of my heart... I never really forgot about it... or the love that we shared.
I figure this will be a place that either Ray or I can post whenever we feel like it. We'll make it apparent who's posting what.... even though the content will probably give that away. If the post seems a bit neurotic... that's me. If the post is about bacon... that's Ray.
Alright, that's enough stupidity for one night. =)
